Tucked away in the historic North End, Bova's is a true Boston gem. This beloved bakery is open 24/7, serving up a delicious array of pizza, rice balls, and mouthwatering sweets that will satisfy any craving. But the real showstopper? Their cannoli, hands down the best in Boston! What makes Bova's truly special, though, is the warmth and hospitality of the owners and staff. They welcomed us with open arms, thrilled to have visitors from New Orleans exploring their city and bakery. Their genuine gratitude and kindness made us feel like family. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Bova's is a must-visit destination. Its historic North End location, combined with its unbeatable treats and warm atmosphere, make it a true Boston treasure. Don't miss out on the cannoli and the opportunity to experience the city's famous hospitality. Five stars aren't enough.
Seeing that its open 24 hrs.. I went in the middle of the night at 2 am.. on a Sunday. And there was still a line. I only got a few items.. lemon cake, tiramisu and a few cannolis. I'm super glad I pick that time because NO traffic..... in the middle of North End.... I loved everything I got.. a bit pricey. I'm a cheap person.. Absolutely wonderful overall... You gotta love Boston.
Literally the best cannolis I've ever had. I would come here everyday if I could. I got the Florentine Cannoli and it was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. The cannoli had a ricotta filling that was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough -- a must try in Boston for sure. On top of the amazing food, the service was great as well, very very nice people. It's a pretty small bakery so it can get crowded but I went on a weekday so it wasn't so bad. I can't wait to go back and get more!
Authentic Italian bakery with what seems like hundreds of choices of desserts, breads, calzones, pizza, and more! We tried a variety of tea cookies, bread, and pizza! Everything, including service was wonderful.
Bova's is is one of the North End staples that's a MUST try if you're in the area. It's open 24/7 so anytime is a good time to visit. There's always a line and the space is small so be ready for a little chaos and be ready to order. They have the best assortment of sweet treats and baked goods. I haven't yet tried something thats not great here. If you're only here for a one time visit I would recommend any of their cannolis. And if you live around here they have great affordable bread.
Bova Bakery, located in the North End--Boston's renowned Little Italy (though calling it Little Italy is more of a tourist thing)--is an absolute gem. Despite the long line, it moved quickly, and the anticipation only added to the experience. Once inside, I was a little overwhelmed with the plethora of choices. I had heard I had to try the cannolis, but there were so many other tempting options. Thankfully, the staff at Bova Bakery are amazing. They were incredibly patient and provided a lot of feedback on what's popular and what they personally prefer. This personalized guidance helped narrow my decision, making the experience much more enjoyable. I ended up ordering the classic cannoli and a lobster tail (a cream-filled pastry shaped like a lobster tail). Both were absolutely amazing. The cannoli was perfectly crispy with a rich, creamy filling, and the lobster tail was a delightful mix of flaky pastry and luscious cream. Bova Bakery is a must-visit when in Boston's North End. With its efficient service, helpful staff, and delectable pastries, it's a place that will satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you wanting more.
The pistachio cannoli was delicious and so decadent with such rich flavor. We got the pistachio and regular cannoli and they were both wonderful. I'd recommend the pistachio wholly and the crunchy shell was super good and fresh. The service was so friendly too.
Brief Summary: - Located in the Italian are on the north side of Boston - Lots of pastries to choose from - Accepts card - Very airy whoopie pie A fantastic encounter indeed. We first visited the Boston Public Market near closing time, so most of the food restaurants have closed up and cleaned away. We stopped by a dessert food stall, when a stranger came up to us and told us about the different dessert places around the area. However, when he mentioned that while he likes the desserts here, he concluded his favorite is the Bova's, which is located in the Italian area (where the best food is, he added). That got us curious, so we ventured off into the Italian town, which starts a block or two away from this public market. Across a little bridge with a cool fountain display, the Italian town begins, and this was a bustling but quaint town. The buildings here are also made out of brick but there was also a nice touch to it that felt like I was in Italy (there was one area that reminded me of a restaurant in Rome). We walked down the bendy alleyways, and it almost felt like walking straight into the town, and there it was, "Bova's." Inside is small because it was filled with rows of food display cases and shelves, and there was a line of people forming a semi-circle new the cash register. The line went by quickly, but it also gave us enough time to walk around and view the other options. The Boston Cream pie looked absolutely tempting, but we wanted to try the one that the local stranger recommended to us: the whoopie pie. In addition to the whoopie pie, we also ordered the cannoli. These were packed in a plastic takeout box and we carried it back home to our hotel to eat. Whoopie pie was very delicious. I don't think I have ever eaten a whoopie pie so light and airy. It was evaporating in the mouth before I got the chance to chew it. The cream was as light and airy, and there was no heavy sweet aftertaste either. This dessert is dangerous in that I could have eaten a dozen more and would be eating more for how light it is. We also loved the cannoli. This also had the light and airy cream, and the outer shell is a unique soft and gentle crisp. This one doesn't melt in the mouth as fast as the whoopie pie due to its shell. Personally, I liked the cannoli with the chocolate chips because of the additional texture of the little chocolate bites.
I had a creme brulee cannoli here and it was LIIIFEE changing. I haven't had many cannolis in the past though, but they definitely blew me out of the water! I visited Bova's upon recommendation from a friend, as we were in the North End and it was conveniently located near where we were having dinner. Walking into the bakery, it's easy to get overwhelmed with all of the baked goods and sweets they have to offer. I was super impressed by the cannoli selection, and the creme brulee was too tempting to not pass up on! The filling was super rich, not too sweet. You could definitely taste the torched bits of sugar too. Would definitely recommend! :)
Some selections are pricey but let me tell you, there's clearly a reason why. We were not expecting their treats to be that good, even with the many recommendations provided beforehand that would tell us otherwise. The rainbow cookies were OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious, and we've tried our fair share of Italian sweets. We dabbled in various cookies, coconut macaroons, and chocolate covered strawberries. Apparently we went at a great time on a Sunday evening after dinner as the service was quick and there was zero line. The space is your typical Italian bakery - homey and packed with an overwhelming amount of color and deliciousness. Open 24 hours, and again, I can understand why. Seriously, find the time to go!
